A straight answer about where you stand
An assessment that says whether your current system can be made compliant, at what cost, or whether it cannot — in writing, before you spend anything.
Spain is changing what invoicing software is legally required to do. A lot of systems in daily use were never built for it.
01 Service
Two separate pieces of Spanish law are converging on the same box on your desk. Royal Decree 1007/2023 sets requirements for billing software itself: invoice records must be complete, unalterable and traceable, chained together with hashes, and carry a QR code. VeriFactu is the mode in which those records are also transmitted to the AEAT as they are issued. Separately, the Crea y Crece law introduces mandatory structured B2B e-invoicing between companies.
For most businesses this is not a tax question, it is a systems question. Either the ERP or invoicing tool can produce compliant, immutable, hash-chained records — or it cannot, and no amount of process change will fix that. We assess which of those you are in, and then do the work: configure and certify what you have, extend it, or plan a migration to something that complies.
Implementation dates for both regimes have been revised more than once. We track the current position rather than quoting a deadline that may have moved; ask us and you will get the state of play as it stands today.
02 What changes
An assessment that says whether your current system can be made compliant, at what cost, or whether it cannot — in writing, before you spend anything.
Changes staged around your invoicing cycle, tested against real documents, with the old process still available until the new one is proven.
Where the existing ERP can be brought into line, we say so. Compliance is a poor excuse for an unnecessary migration, and vendors know it.
03 Common questions
If you issue invoices from software in Spain, the billing-software rules are aimed at you, with limited exceptions such as businesses already inside the SII regime. The B2B e-invoicing mandate applies between companies and professionals. Which obligations bite first depends on your size and turnover — that is one of the first things an assessment settles.
Often, yes — and if so we will tell you and charge you nothing further. What is worth checking is whether the compliant version is one you can actually reach: heavily customised or long-unpatched systems sometimes cannot be upgraded to it without work, and that is usually discovered late.
Frequently not. Many systems can be brought into compliance through configuration, an updated localisation module, or a certified invoicing layer alongside them. Replacement is the answer when the system is unsupported or so modified that upgrading is more expensive than moving — and that should be demonstrated, not asserted.
